BELANCĒ Stories | Nickolas Britton Posted on 16 Jul 15:36

"My personal life is very structured and similar from week to week. Friday nights consist of dinner at Vacanza with my best friends."

Nickolas is the current marketing manager for BELANCĒ, during the day-to-day you will find Nick bouncing between the Paddington and Barangaroo showrooms greeting customers, organising suits for wedding parties and looking after the back end work that keeps this ship afloat.

When Nick finally finds some time throughout his busy schedule, he spends it training and keeping his body healthy; he's currently training for the upcoming City2Surf in August. He finds having physical goals helps maintain focus throughout his daily business activities.

Items Nick can't live without

A morning latte from Room 10
A book he's currently reading 'A Little Life' by Hanya Yanagihara
A glass of Red, preferably Malbec
Trilogy rosehip oil
Sea salt spray, from the sea (literally from the sea, he collects it himself!)
A well fitted tee - The Bandsome Crew Neck Tee is his current favourite
Tom Ford Fragrance - Tobacco Vanille

Nick describes his daily living as structured and very similar from week-to-week. Maintaining a routine helps him maximise his results at work and during training, allowing him to easily identify if something (could be a new food or activity) isn't working for him. It's this structure that allows Nick to excel at BELANCĒ, attention to detail and a zen-like focus is necessary when organising photoshoots, designing sample garments and making sure all customer orders arrive swiftly. Thanks Nick!

As someone who works with garments, I imagine you'd be exposed to new pieces everyday. What does a garment or accessory need to have, for it to spark your interest enough to buy it?

I believe personal style is when your look doesn't change from day to night, except for putting product in your hair and changing your shoes. Every piece I buy is classic, well fitted and can be worn back with many pieces I already own. For example my recent suit purchase was a blue suit which can be worn with a white tee and a sneaker but also with a mandarin collar shirt and loafer.. and of course a white shirt, tie and derby. The versatility of an item is what stands out for me!

Is there a product in BELANCĒ right now that you'd consider to be a 'must-have'?

Oliver Cabell Low 1 in white and black! Perfect sneaker to be wore with a suit, chino or jean. Simple and classic.

One of your friends from out of town come to visit you in Sydney. Where are the places you take them?

EAT
Three Williams Cafe
NOMAD

DRINK
The Butler
The Roosevelt

ACTIVITIES
The Museum of Contemporary Art, Australia
A film at Govinda's Cinema

What is the most interesting aspect of working with new up-and-coming brands and start-ups?

I have been very fortunate that this has given me exposure of running a business that I wouldn't have had working for a corporate. I really enjoy being able to take ownership of a project from start to finish and managing all aspects (even parts that I have no experience in). Mostly, I enjoy working in a close team with people that all share the same vision and belief in the brand they are building. The pressure can be overwhelming, however nothing compares to the sense of accomplishment when it is successful.

Name one tip you've received recently that has really improved your training?

I have recently started learning about the benefits of fasting - this is not only affects training but overall energy levels, I find it interesting that when you change one aspect of training the effect that it can have on your overall lifestyle.
